MIRAGE_AI_DETECTOR · LAST UPDATED MAY 21, 2026
The short version. Your scan history stays on your device. Images you analyze are sent to our backend only for the duration of the scan and are never stored. We collect no analytics besides crash reports. There are no user accounts.
Who runs Mirage
Mirage is built and operated by ByteBack NJ (Eric Allen), a sole proprietor based in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Contact: alleneric86@gmail.com.
What data we handle
Images and videos you analyze
When you tap Analyze, the selected image (resized to roughly 1024px JPEG) is sent over HTTPS to our Netlify proxy at bytebacknj.com, which forwards it to Hugging Face's inference service for AI-detection scoring. Images are processed in-memory and discarded immediately after the response is returned. We do not store your images on any server, log them, or retain them after the request completes.
The on-device forensic checks (EXIF parsing, JPEG fingerprinting, pixel analysis) run entirely on your phone — those bytes never leave your device.
Scan history
Past scan results (verdict, score, signals, thumbnail) are stored in your device's local app storage (AsyncStorage). They are never uploaded. You can clear all history at any time from Settings → Delete All Data.
User accounts
Mirage has no user accounts. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, or any other identifying information.
Crash and error reports
If the app crashes, we send a stack trace and basic device info (OS version, app version) to Sentry, an industry-standard crash-reporting service, so we can fix bugs. Crash reports never include your images, scan content, or personal information. URLs containing image data are stripped from breadcrumbs before transmission.
Feedback you send
If you tap the 👍 / 👎 buttons after a scan and submit a comment, we record the thumb direction, any text you type, the verdict, and the signal keys (e.g. "cam_model", "ai_sw") that fired. We do not capture or transmit your image, only metadata about the scan. This data is logged to our Netlify function logs and used to improve detection accuracy.
Purchases
Mirage Pro purchases are processed by RevenueCat, which interacts directly with Google Play Billing or the iOS App Store. We never see your payment information. RevenueCat may receive an anonymous device identifier to manage your entitlement.

Your rights
Because Mirage has no accounts and stores nothing about you on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on request. To wipe everything on your device, open Settings → Delete All Data. To uninstall the app, your device's app manager removes all local storage as well.
Children
Mirage is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we'll help.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and surface a notice inside the app on first launch after the change.
