Privacy Policy

This policy covers bytebacknj.com and its store. ByteBack is run by an independent developer in New Jersey, USA. The ByteBack apps have their own policies: ByteBack Live and Mirage.

The short version

No ads, no tracking cookies, no selling or sharing your information. Visits are counted without cookies. If you make an account, I keep only what's needed to sign you in and show your orders and wishlist. Payments go through Lemon Squeezy, and card details never reach this site.

Visits to this website

I count visits without cookies. When you open a page, your browser sends the page address, the name of the site that linked you here, and whether you're on a phone, tablet or computer. Your IP address is used only to make a one-way code that changes every day, and the address itself is never stored. A random tab ID is kept in your browser's session storage and is erased when you close the tab. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, nothing is recorded. Daily totals are kept, and the individual visit records are deleted after 35 days (90 days for download counts).

ByteBack accounts

You can browse and buy without an account. If you create one, the sign-in provider (Clerk) stores your name, email address, profile picture and, if you sign in with Google or Facebook, the ID that service gives me. When you sign in with Google or Facebook, only your name, email address and profile picture are requested. I never see or store your Google or Facebook password. Sign-in uses Cloudflare's bot check to block automated attacks, and Clerk sets the cookies needed to keep you signed in.

Your wishlist and order history are stored with the website host (Netlify) so your Account page can show your purchases and downloads.

Orders and payments

Orders are processed by Lemon Squeezy, the merchant of record for ByteBack. Lemon Squeezy collects your payment details, billing address and email, and handles taxes and receipts under its own privacy policy. This site receives the order number, the products you bought, the amount and your email, so it can deliver your downloads and show them in your account. Card details never reach bytebacknj.com.

Messages you send

If you use the message form or email support, I get your message and whatever contact details you include, and use them only to answer you.

Services this site uses

Fonts and scripts are served from this site itself, not from ad or analytics networks.

What I don't do

Deleting your account and data

To delete your account, sign in, open your Account page, go to Security and choose Delete account. This removes your sign-in profile right away. Your wishlist and order history are deleted within 30 days.

You can also email byteback-support@googlegroups.com from your account's email address and ask me to delete everything. I'll confirm within 30 days. If you signed in with Facebook, you can also remove ByteBack under Facebook → Settings → Apps and Websites. Records of past purchases that tax law requires to be kept are held by Lemon Squeezy.

Your rights

You can ask what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, using the message form or the email above. Depending on where you live (for example New Jersey, California or the EU), you may have more rights under local law, and I'll honor them.

Children

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child made an account, let me know and I'll delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Big changes will be noted on this page.
